Search Continues for Missing Staunton Man

The search for 50-year-old Earl Funk continues for a fifth day. Shenandoah National Park Rangers and Albemarle County Sheriff's deputies continued their search through the weekend.
Funk was last seen on September 29 around 1:00 p.m. in the Cedar Mountain Area. A hasty search of the area was conducted by volunteers and friends on Monday night and Tuesday morning.
Friends reported Funk missing to the Albemarle County Police Department on Tuesday morning. Albemarle County Police Department and the Albemarle County Sheriff's office searched the area until late Tuesday night.
Weather conditions continue to be favorable during the weekend for ground searchers as they attempt to locate Funk.
On Saturday, search teams expanded their efforts on both park and private lands. No significant clues have been found to date.
Searchers are working in areas of thick brush or woodland and steep cliffs.
Earl Funk is described as a white male with brown hair and green eyes, 5 foot 8 inches tall who weighs approximately 145 pounds. He is wearing dark pants and a light shirt.
Approximately 60 employees and trained volunteers, including ground searchers and four dog teams are currently involved in the search.
The search is a joint operation between Shenandoah National Park and the Albemarle County Sheriff's Office.
