Residents in Waynesboro sure love apples.
Turner's Produce of West Beverley Street in Staunton sold apples on Broad Street in Waynesboro as part of Apple Days. A craft fair was held across the street at the Willow Oak Plaza Shopping Center.
Elaine Turner says they sold a record number of apples this year. They brought 160 bushels and were left with about ten at closing time, which she says is a sale of roughly 6,000 pounds of apples.
She says, "The day has really been good. Normally we don't sell that many this year, but apparently people have really been wanting apples, and it's been really good this year."
Many of the vendors commented on how successful the fair was. Turner says her business sells a variety of apples, some for cooking and others for baking.
