30 Year Anniversary for Local Cold Case

Updated: Mon 7:20 PM, Jun 18, 2012

A woman went missing from a Harrisonburg gas station 30 years ago on Monday. The family still hopes for information and investigators are still working hard to find her body.

Kelly Bergh Dove was last seen at the gas station she worked at on South Main St. Dove was 20 years old when her family said she was abducted. Her family said she called 911 three times for protection the night she went missing.

Dove's mom said in one of the calls her daughter told police she was receiving lewd phone calls, but in the last call, Dove said a man was at her work dressed improperly.

Lt. Kurt Boshart with Harrisonburg's Police Department said he sympathized with the family.

"It's a difficult case,” said Lt. Boshart. “I feel for the family, definitely. There's one thing that we always look at and that's the victims of these crimes. That's one of the reasons that we keep this case alive. It's not something that we put off and forget about."

Lt. Boshart said any time the police department hires a new investigator, they have a fresh pair of eyes take a look at the case. They have asked for assistance from the Commonwealth Attorneys Office and also the state lab.

Dove's family said it is going to take someone to come forward with new information for this case finally to be put to rest.
