Even after classes let out on Monday students at Buffalo Gap High School continued to mourn the loss of their classmate and friend, Cody Hassett.

Hassett was killed Monday morning in a car accident on Route 262 when his car collided with a pickup truck.

Students at the school say Hassett spent a season on the football team.

Sophomore Matthew Kennell remembers Hassett as a good guy with a big heart.

Kennell says the atmosphere at the school today was somber saying, "I didn't think it happened. I thought people were just lying because I knew there was a car accident but I was just shocked."

The school had a number of councilors on hand to help students cope with the loss. They will continue to be there as long as it takes to make sure students can deal with Hassett's death.

I think it is time to leave them alone and quit showing the accident pictures, etc. The family should mention their needs and be responded to on their requests now.
