A fatal medical condition caused a car crash on the outskirts of Staunton around 1:00 p.m. Thursday.

Heather Hall was inside the Briarwood II Apartments complex when she felt the building shake. A car had crashed into the corner of the structure.

Seventy-eight-year-old William B. Morley was driving his white Chevy Suburban and apparently had a stroke or heart attack, which caused him to run off the road and crash into the building.

His vehicle then hit four parked vehicles. Bricks from the building that were thrown by the impact caused minor damage to several other cars nearby.

Brad Fix was visiting the apartments and was just walking out the door when he saw the damage.

He says, "What happened was the guy jumped the curb, came through the grass, hopped over our SUV and went airborne and landed on the other vehicles. It was unbelievable."

No one else was injured in the crash.

Police say Morley died of natural causes because there was no sign he had attempted to stop his car.
