Harrisonburg Police have made three arrests in relation to a Sunday morning shooting at the Hunters Ridge Apartments.

The shooting left 19-year-old Reginald "Shay" Nicholson in the hospital, where he is still recovering.

The memory of the shooting is still fresh in the mind of some residents. Jeff Crowley was in the area at the time, and says he heard the shots fired. The news that police have three suspects in custody is offering him some comfort.

"Maybe the people they caught did it, maybe they didn't, but hopefully they get the whole situation resolved," says Crowley.

All three of the suspects are being held in Rockingham County on gang-related charges. Another resident says the arrests mean he'll sleep a little easier.

"It makes me feel comfortable, because it means they're not out there doing stuff. So it makes me feel a lot better,' says Randy Seal who also lives at Hunters Ridge.

Police have yet to release the details of how the men are connected to Nicholson's shooting, but they have released their names and charges. Twenty-year-old Gregory Baker, 18-year-old Jahmaine Faqiri, and 19-year-old Demonds Parrish, all of Ruckersville, were arrested on charges of assault and battery by mob and gang participation. Faqiri is also charged with brandishing a firearm.

The hospital is not releasing Nicholson's current condition, but residents hope he will recover and the arrests will help everyone move forward

Harrisonburg Police say they plan to release more information Friday morning, and that there may be more arrests related to the shooting.

The three men arrested are scheduled to appear in Rockingham-Harrisonburg General District Court on December 16.
