Layoffs at Invista Plant
Waynesboro, Va.
More than 200 Valley residents are without jobs after the Invista plant in Waynesboro had to make cuts, but the site manager says the layoffs may not be permanent.

i mean it was hard for us to lose our jobs it wasnt nothing to get mad about but i had a job at a gas station and we got layed off and see what happen to afyarns

Part of that story is untrue. They will not be rehiring those of us that are getting laid off. If they restart the Nylon building it will be a rehire for those that apply and not a reinstate for those let go. The layoff is not just affecting the Nylon workers either. The layoffs will start with SITE WIDE lowest service and go up the ladder till all 200 needed cuts are met. Those that are left will be moved into the job openings created by the layoff. Regardless of if you're area is shutting down, low service will get you let go while those in Nylon that have more service get your job. Merry Christmas indeed.
