According to a company spokesperson, all 632 workers at the materials manufacturing facility received notice that the staffing situation at the Invista plant in Waynesboro is still not finalized.
Earlier this month, Invista laid off more than 200 staff members and a company that does contract work at the plant also made more than 100 layoffs.
Waynesboro city officials say dealing with the recent layoffs at one of their largest employers is a high priority at this point.
Vice Mayor Frank Lucente says, while the city council has not held open discussions on issues surrounding the plant, they do say they are preparing for the possibility of more layoffs.
He says, "We didn't get there over night. This has been happening for a long time. There have been people warning about this. Now it's starting to come to pass. I'm not a fearful person and I think you have to deal with what is before you, and I see this as a challenge, but a challenge that can be met and come out as stronger than we were before."
