One Waynesboro nonprofit agency is helping people save some money, one bill at a time.
With water and sewer bills likely to rise in the River City next year, one purchase this holiday season could keep your water from being disconnected: a Water Saving Kit from Vector Industries.
Peggy Moore says, "Everything is going up and this will help residents to cut back on their water and sewer bills."
Moore says the devices in the kit will cut about 34 percent off the residents water bill. If an increase to the water/sewer rate is approved, the bill for a four person family would increase more than $24 dollars in a two month period, so the difference is substantial.
David Tanner gave it a shot, and with a daughter in the house, he usually doesn't take hot showers.
He says, "So I got in there and I still had hot water left, so I was impressed because I only have a 30 gallon tank."
Moore says, "That will save approximately 33 percent of the water during a shower. There are components for a toilet that will detect a leak."
Tanner says, "If we can cut that cost for the person, he can take it to the stores and have money to spend on other things to help the economy grow."
Vector Industries is asking for $25 a kit and the company guarantees measures like those will pay for themselves in just three months. If you want to pick one up, you can call 540-943-8444 at ext. 16 or visit their Waynesboro office.
Moore says more than 90 percent of employees who put together the kits have significant disabilities and depend on this project for their jobs.
