A Fishersville man hasn't given up trying to bring a motocross track to Augusta County.
However, Board of Supervisors member Nancy Sorrells says Terry Argenbright's latest proposal to put a motocross track in Greenville is still a bit premature.
She says, "I think we are too early to say I would like to see it happen or I wouldn't like to see it happen, but I think that we have a lot of land that is zoned commercial there. We have an interstate exit there with the potential, so it certainly is an appropriate place for it, if we can make it a fit for the community."
Sorrells says the plan to place the development behind the Pilot truck stop does have some potential benefits.
She says, "We'd bring in a business that would bring in revenue for the area. Offer some recreation for the area. There are a lot of people interested in this type of recreational activity."
It doesn't stop there. There are reservations about the project, including traffic flow and another major concern with noise.
Sorrells says, "[Noise] is one of our top concerns. That we have to work together to make sure that that does not become something that's going to impact the people that are already residents of here."
Sorrells says she wants to make sure the community takes an active roll in deciding if this is the best fit.
She says, "A lot of work needs to be done as far as talking to the community, making sure this is the right fit for that area. So we are at the beginning of that process."
The Augusta County Board of Zoning Appeals will consider the proposal in February.
Argenbright originally wanted to build the track at Expoland, but following several meetings, sound tests and other issues, those plans were dropped.

Motocross is a nuisance. Period. Find another HOBBY.
I think that the concil should let them put it in.I was there riding for the sound test. It is just fun for every one. It is not like anyone will go out there and ride as fast as they can.The people who dont approve just dont like any idea put theres.
I'll bet all the geezers at goose creek will still complain, even if it is moved miles away. They have no life and nothing better to do than complain.
