Friday will be the last day at work for a number of Tyson employees at the Liberty plant in Harrisonburg.
Around 45 jobs will be cut as the plant changes its operation.
Tyson released a statement saying the decision was due to high costs and a competitive meat and poultry market.
The company will also operate for shorter hours after the new year begins.
In that statement, Tyson says it plans to help the affected people file for unemployment benefits.
