It looks like a soggy start to the Labor
Day travel weekend.
The Virginia Department of Transportation will help ease holiday
weekend traffic by opening some lanes on major roads that are
temporarily closed for construction or maintenance.
Most of those lanes will be cleared from noon tomorrow until
noon Tuesday, September 5th. Construction zones with concrete
barriers and orange barrels may remain in place.
Speeding in a work zone can result in a 500-dollar fine.
The state has established Highway Safety Corridors on Interstate
81 near Salem, on Interstate 95 near Richmond and on I-95 in
northern Virginia. Drivers can be fined up to 25-hundred dollars
for speeding, tailgating or reckless driving.
