Virginia State Police say one person is dead following a Sunday morning standoff with police.
VSP Sgt. F.L. Tyler says, shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, the driver of a car that was pulled over allegedly began firing at officers.
Tyler says police shot back, killing the driver. It happened at the entrance of Skyline Drive.
A passenger of the car was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. Police have not released the identities of the victim or the passenger.
The entrance to Skyline Drive remains closed as police conduct an investigation. The FBI is investigating the incident.

I think it's safe to assume it's the same incident.

Still waiting for update. From my scanner, it was a car chase (possibly started from Southern Entrance of Skyline, Page County), speeds in excess of 55-60 mph. Police used spike strip to stop vehicle, shots fired at police and then subject was down by gunshot wound. Culpepper Rescue called. Wanting to know if this is the same incidents or seperate.

I would like to hear more on exactly how this story actually occurred. I would like to verify the version I heard on the scanner.
