The Virginia Department of Transportation officials in Page County are expecting significant cuts in funding for road projects.

So they're taking several of those projects off their six-year plan. VDOT officials are expecting a cut of more than $2 million for secondary roads, which is a 51-percent reduction.

VDOT has recommended the county's board of supervisors take five of eight projects out of the six-year plan.

One project is complete and another was partially funded by a railroad company.

"They're no longer viable projects in this plan because we don't have sufficient funding to be able to address all three phases of the project: preliminary engineering, right-of-way, and construction," says Jeff Lineberry, VDOT's Luray residency administrator.

The county will hold a public hearing on the six-year plan April 21.
