A major breakthrough for a Broadway man who lost his job at Cargill over what he claims was his support of the marriage amendment.
We first brought you this last week, Luis Padilla of Broadway was fired from his job at Cargill for insubordination. But now, a twist in the story as Cargill has now fulfilled Padilla's requests.
Padilla has been given his job back with full pay and benefits and his employment record will be swept clean. Cargill requested to meet with Padilla on Tuesday to discuss the events that led up to Padilla's termination.
On October fourth Cargill employees complained of a display on Padilla's truck showing "vote for the marriage amendment on November 7th. "
After complying with Cargill's initial request that he remove the sign, Padilla came to work the next day with the sign on his truck, but parked on what he thought was public property, turns out it was still Cargill's property.
Cargill officials say this was all a big misunderstanding and they deeply regret any inconvenience Padilla and his family experienced.
The general manager of the Timberville plant, Wesley Carter says after reviewing all facts, Mr. Padilla did do everything to comply with company requests and there was no insubordination on his part.
Cargill also announced that it will issue a company wide policy on Monday.
