A Bridgewater firefighter is being called a hero, but it's not a title he's ready to accept.
Volunteer firefighter David Huddle was off duty Thursday night when a fire broke out just a few houses away from his Harrisonburg home.
Huddle got an alert on his pager and rushed over. He pulled his neighbor, George Rorrer, from the burning house. Rorrer was taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Now people around the Valley, including his neighbors, are cheering David Huddle's effort.
"It's not very often that we get the chance to pull somebody out of a structure or very many fires, so when we do it's a very good feeling," says Huddle.
On Friday, the property owners were at Rorrer's house assessing the damage with a reconstructor, who will work with the insurance company to rebuild.
Investigators have to wait for Rorrer to recover from his injuries before they can determine the cause of the fire.
