A couple dozen workers in the Valley are looking for work following layoffs.
A company spokesperson for Graham Packaging confirmed the company cut 24 positions at the Harrisonburg plant, effective Tuesday.
The local plant makes plastic bottles for other businesses.
The company is shifting from a seven-day production schedule to a five-day schedule each week.
Company managers tie the job cuts to the overall slow down in the economy.
Last spring, Graham Packaging cut 60 positions in Harrisonburg. The recent cuts leave the facility with almost 300 employees.
