i know this is late but i just found this site.i didnt know this man as dave really,i knew him as houndog.Guitar pickin houndog.i watched him play a few times and it meant alot to me.he would play songs back to back and then took a "break".while taking his "break" he would teach me how to pick out some of the songs he played.i really appreciated that time with him.i'm from the city but i was in luray for the 4 of july weekend.i heard wat happened and it just brought chills.i just kept thinking about the few times i got to hang out wth him.on 4th of july i drank a beer in his memory and replayed those times with him.my prayers still go out to dave and his family.

As friends of his sister Tammy, my husband and I would like to extend our deepest sorrow for the terrible time they are having. He is in a better place, but that doesn't make it any easier for his loved ours. Our prayers are with them all.

My thoughts have been with Daves Mom since his untimely death and will continue to be with her and his sisters. Dave is going to be missed more than words can say, his death has been very hard to try and cope with. Since attending his memorial service I have to say I'm not as unsettled as I was before..this wonderful, fun-loving mans generosity continues to be shown, his heart beats on, for it was given to a young boy that desperately needed it. Dave you are an amazing man...we all love and miss you.

First I would like to say that all of the volunteers did everything possible to save Mr. Liller. Second I would like to extend my prayers and blessings to the families of this man. And last but not least, I would like for everyone to stop and think for just a second, because no matter what the circumstances are if the man upstairs is ready for you, there is absolutely nothing that anyone can do about it. To his family, he is in heaven with the angels now. Not a better place to be. May God bless all of you.

WOW some people are so heartless, please let this man RIP. I cant beleive all these comments putting our Rescue and Fire department down the way you people are they do VOLUNTEER for this community!!!I do feel that maybe the first person on the sence should have tried to do something even if he pulled his car up anything go to the apartments and get anything, but.....I want finish this due to it could go on and on...God bless this family and the fire and rescue. Thanks for all you do for this county Luray Fire and Rescue. My thoughts and prayers are with this family

First I would like to say I am so sorry to the family of this man, I cannot imagine what they are going through. As well I am so sorry for anyone that had to witness that. We've all been on bad calls but I imagine this probably would be the worst that i've seen, i'm sure they all felt helpless. I would also like to say it may have not been seconds until the first person was there but it was a matter of maybe 2 minutes and it was 5 minutes after they received the call until a ladder truck was there. I know this for a fact. That ladder truck could have been sitting right at the stop light when this happened and they still may not have been able to save him. It does take time to set the truck up and raise the ladder. So to anyone who is critizing the fire department, rescue squad or the police department, come ride along with us some time and witness what we do before you judge us. To Anthony, please take a grammar class and learn how to spell. They all watched him die helplessly

The first call was received at 0824 the first officer was ont the scene at 0826. And volunteers were there in SECONDS. If you want to dispute that we will. I was one of the first ones there. I tried to get to him and couldn't. Do you know what that's like for me?

lets get our facts straight, if anyone thinks it took fire and rescue 15 minutes to get to the scene that is untrue.and luray insiders statment of being on the scene in seconds is also untrue. where the 15 minutes is being mentioned is from the time the FIRST 911 call was placed to the time the dear gentleman fell. yes many members of fire and rescue was on the scene minutes after the FIRST call not seconds. i dont mean to sound as if im laying blame, but facts are facts. we need nets or inflatables for our rescue team. to daves family and friends may god be with you.our prayers are with you.
