The Augusta County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver.

The incident occurred just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Days Inn on White Hill Road.

Deputies say a delivery driver went to the motel on a run and was confronted by a man when leaving.

The suspect showed the driver a handgun, robbed the driver and ran away.

The suspect is a white man, between 18 and 25 years of age, between five-foot-five-inches and five-foot-nine-inches tall, and weighs between 160 and 180 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black sweatshirt, a toboggan hat and a blue bandanna.

Investigator Aaron Leveck says, "They're out at all hours of the night. They're known to carry a lot of cash, although a lot of them have changed their standards and are now carrying less cash. But I'd say they're very vulnerable."

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Augusta County Sheriff's Office at 540-245-533 or the Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers at 800-322-2017.
