So much for safety, I agree the ones at the top need a break from they big salaries.I can only guess what it will look like when you get to the next rest stop.

I THINK IT'S A VERY BAD IDEA TO CLOSE THESE REST AREAS.JUST LIKE PEOPLE SAID, YOU THINK WE HAD ALOT OF ACCIDENTS BEFORE JUST WAIT UNTIL THIS HAPPENS. WHY DON'T THE PEOPLE THAT GET PAID THE BIG BUCKS TO MAKE THESE DUMB DECISIONS TAKE A CUT OFF OF THEIR SALARY, BECAUSE I'M SURE IT'S A HEFTY ONE.

I don't even bother to travel I-81 any more. I'll take the 45 minutes (or more) longer travel time any day just to avoid that cluster. As if there aren't enough cars and trucks out there now...next more sleepy truckers and drivers causing more traffic and wrecks without a place to rest or use the bathroom. At least you can hide in the tall grass that VA is not mowing either when you stop on the side of the road to use the facilities.

REALLY A STUPID IDEAL> BUT YOU KNOW OUR GOVERMENT OFFICALS HAVE TO BE PAID THEIR BIG BUCKS. YOU THINK THERE IS ALOT OF WRECKS NOW.JUST WAIT IT WILL BE WORSE.

I think closing the rest areas is a dangerous decision, no matter how tired we are when traveling keep driving... until we reach the next rest area could you imagine traveling I-81 all the way through Virginia tired...just trying to get to the next rest area. ot to mention the fact that the rest areas will just there going to waste, that doesn't make any logic to me. As hard as 'they' are trying to make up for the budget shortfall, I feel this one will be counterproductive. perhaps a toll on I-81 could help fund the rest areas?
