Plans to freshen up an old mural outside of Waynesboro may be moving forward, but it could be without the help of the man who spearheaded the project in the first place.

What was supposed to be a fun community project for Waynesboro resident Ron Hiserman and other volunteers has run into more problems.

He says, "I just feel like they're ignoring it, thinking it's going to go away and we thought we were doing a good service."

Hiserman was told he needed approval from the Buckingham Branch Railroad to continue painting a large mural on a bridge over Route 250.

When contacted Tuesday, the company says it's now in the hands of the city of Waynesboro.

Hiserman says, "I haven't heard anything from Buckingham Branch Railroad. I haven't heard anything from the city. I haven't heard anything yet from the county."

He worries the project won't get done. He says the mural plays a big roll in welcoming people into the city and needs to be cleaned up.

"I guess maybe I'm trying to do something too fast," says Hiserman. "But I don't believe I am. I've given plenty of time to get a response from it."

For now, Hiserman will have to wait until the city decides the next step for the project he originally started.

He says, "That's all I've ever gotten is people that have said they're looking into it. There's no progress going on."

Hiserman says if he doesn't get an answer by Wednesday, he says it's only fair he return all the unused paint that was donated for the project.
