The news has talked about cases of the H1N1 influenza virus in camps and there have been cases of the illness reported in the Valley.
Now, some parents are worried after seven cases of H1N1, also known as swine flu, were confirmed at a camp for children sponsored by the University of Virginia.
However, the university says there is no need to worry. Health officials want to make sure parents know that summer camp is still a safe place, as long as a few precautions are taken.
Campers at the Triple C Camp in Albemarle County are enjoying outdoor activities.
They've heard about the flu virus and many say they know what to do to stay safe.
Triple C's director says the staff cleans regularly, but now members are even more aware and are often disinfecting shared surfaces. Health officials say this will help lower the chances of spreading the virus.
Elizabeth Davies, with the Thomas Jefferson Health District, says, "In a situation where you have campers and you know sleeping in the same room and being in crowded situation, disease is likely to spread more quickly so communication is the key."
Health officials encourage parents to keep their children at home and stay away from camps if they are sick.
