Two people who were killed in a multi-vehicle wreck on Interstate 81 Thursday have been identified.
The Virginia State Police say Stone T. Weeks and William H. Weeks, both of Houston, Texas, were traveling from Texas to Maryland when the accident occurred.
The brothers were traveling north on 81 near mile marker 296 in Shenandoah County at the time of the crash.
Police say a northbound tractor trailer failed to slow in time for traffic near an earlier wreck. At the time of this crash, traffic on the interstate was backed up between three and four miles while motorists attempted to turn onto a detour.
The police report says the tractor trailer hit the Honda CPE in which the Weeks' brother were traveling in the rear.
The crash forced the Honda underneath a tractor trailer in front of it and caused a chain reaction that involved two other tractor trailers.
Police say the crash between the first two trucks and the Honda caused a side fuel tank on one of the trucks to rupture and catch fire.
The road was damaged by the blaze and needed work before it could be reopened after the crash.
None of the tractor-trailer drivers were seriously hurt.
This crash was one of four on the interstate Thursday night, all within 15 miles of each other, that caused traffic issues throughout a good portion of Friday.

Stone and Holt were amazing young men. They are missed deeply by their remarkable extended family. They are the kind of young people who would work hard to make this dangerous highway a safer route for others. Let's help make that true.
Please re3member these two young men. Stone was 24 and Holt was only 20. They were the Weeks' only children. Holt was a Junior at Rice University and Stone was a Research Assistant to a prominent historian at Rice. They both worked for the Baker Institute @ Rice. These were two very intelligent and promising young men. I will miss seeing Stone walking by my office every day and Holt leaving his dirty dishes in our break room...so sad beyond words...so young. Please remember them and their parents in your prayers that is the most important thing.
