A family practice doctor in Harrisonburg is charged with forcible sodomy and sexual battery.
This, stemming from an investigation that began on January 4. A female victim came to police after she says she was forcibly sodomized and sexually assaulted by Doctor Joseph McNamara at his office.
The police department began the investigation after the victim reported the incident. Upon request, McNamara turned himself into the police yesterday afternoon. But police are not going into too much detail about this case.
"Most important probably is the victim in the case. I think it's important for people to understand too. There is a certain amount of privacy for the victim as far was what, you know, anyone wants to go through so you know, so that's the other part of the concern there that we have," says Lt. Kurt Boshart of the Harrisonburg Police
The investigation will continue and Lieutenant Boshart says the case will be forwarded to the Commonwealth Attorney's Office for the prosecution.
