Issue heats up between lawmaker in the General Assembly

The sponsor of a bill to reform the payday lending industry threatened to pull the legislation if opponents try to change it to make it more difficult for lenders to do business.
Senator Richard Saslaw's bill is the only one remaining out of more than a dozen introduced this year in the General Assembly to either reform the short-term, high-interest loan industry or repeal the law that allows it to operate.
