The Harrisonburg Police Department has announced several gang arrests on 71 indictments, ending a city and countywide roundup by the CHARGE Gang Task Force.
Nine people have been arrested in connection to gang activity in the area.
Harrisonburg Lt. Kurt Boshart says eight of the people arrested are members of the gang Sur-13 and one is a Crips gang member.
Nineteen-year-old Aurelio Robles, 19-year-old Luis Flores, 22-year-old Darryl Reese, 23-year-old Adan Rojas-Osorio, 24-year-old Juan Jose Valencia-Ramirez and 25-year-old Bulue Berry were all arrested Wednesday without incident.
Three minors, two who are 15 and one who is 16, were also arrested.
A special grand jury convened Tuesday and handed up direct indictments.
The men face various charges including property damage, attempted malicious wounding, gang participation, hazing, grand larceny and gang recruitment.

They are animals and please you nut jobs that are defending them are either just plain frikking stupid or they are your family members. Kids ??? you've lost your minds. I hope they lock up these scum bags and toss the key!! Yes Hburg SUR13 is alive and well in your neighborhoods..... I hope they all get whats coming to them!! And where are the locals... 20 yrs ago this would not have been allowed. The good ole boy net work must be dead in this once proud town~!
Thanks HPD for taking any and all thug characters off the streets, even if only for a short time! I don't care what race, color, or gender they are.
Some of you may want to look up how criminal prosecution is handled here in America. Not sure how it works else where but here you are innocent until proven guilty, so if HPD wants to arrest these individuals im sure they have reasonable suspicion that they are in fact committing crime. HPD is here to enforce laws and it is very well possible that those men and boys were breaking some laws. If they are innocent they will be deemed so. Keep up the good work C.H.A.R.G.E. And just a little f.y.i. for the un- or misinformed, participation in a gang or s.t.g. is a form of terrorism.
