Augusta Health is one of only two hospitals in the state that will run a prescription drop-off program this year.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot behind the finance building at Augusta Health.

Community members can drop off any type of prescription drug or unwanted medications. The drop-off will be completely anonymous.

The Augusta County Sheriff's Office will be patrolling the drop-off site to make sure the medications successfully travel from the event to the place where they will be incinerated.

The Director of Pharmacy Doug Halroyd says, "This is one big opportunity for the community to help the community. We are just here facilitating. Each individual person in the community can do their thing and dispose of their medications properly."

Officials say they are fully prepared to dispose of any type of drug or medication that is dropped off Saturday.
