A group of people in the Valley used the popular video game Guitar Hero to benefit those who are in need.

The Mercy House hosted the event at the Valley Mall Saturday. Pre-registration for the Guitar Hero competition was $15, or $20 at the door.

The group says it doesn't rely on fundraising, but it saw this as an opportunity to connect with a specific part of the community instead.

"We want to involve the youth. We have a lot of young folks in the house and we have a daycare center and things like that, and we see how much they want to be a part of the things going on around them. So we think it's important to involve these young folks and start habits for the future," says Adam Clark, with the Mercy House Board of Directors.

Mercy House says that by getting its name out there during these hard economic times, people will keep it in mind and help it out when times are better.
