This weekend's storm caused many problems for drivers on the roads. Pilots also faced troubles on the runways. Crews were working to keep the tarmac clear and are stepping up efforts, in preparation for Tuesday's bout of winter weather.

In Harrisonburg, crews have been working--and will continue to work--to make sure roads are as safe as possible. The Virginia Department of Transportation says some secondary roads could still be snow covered, but have been plowed at least once.

VDOT reports, most primary roads in the Valley are in minor to moderate condition.

"We saw a big improvement this time from December, a lot of people stayed home and that really helped out the plow drivers," said Sandy Myers from VDOT's Public Affairs office in Staunton.

As far as Shenandoah Regional Airport is concerned, the first arrival was Monday at 1:00 p.m.

In terms of local roads, VDOT says they're preparing for Tuesday's winter weather just like any other storm.

Sorry, but I have no kind words for VDOT. Despite having two people with medical impairments, and having called a dozen times to VDOT, including their 'urgent line', and having emailed multiple times, they have not plowed these through streets even once since last Thursday, February 4. I've called their 'urgent' line, and they tell me I live on a cul de sac, which is why they have not considered these streets a priority. Sorry VDOT, as we've told you multiple times, maybe a half mile down the road there is a short portion of the street that is a cul de sac, but we are at the junction of two fairly major thoroughfares and have been stuck for six days now. So much for their lies about how they would make at least one pass on every street by COB February 9.

I just want to say thank you to VDOT, they get alot of negative comments from people but we really need to sit down and think of all of the hard work they do. They spend long hours plowing snow. The main reason why the roads are still snow covered are because of all the vehicles on the road are packing the snow down and then it freezes. The plows cannot do anything for this. If people would stay off of the roads the plows would be able to do a better job. So instead of complaining I am commending VDOT's employees.
