Snow Affects Elderly and Mail Retrieval
Many mailboxes around the Valley are blocked by snow affecting residents, especially the elderly.

Many mailboxes around the Valley are blocked by snow affecting residents, especially the elderly.

The Harrisonburg Emergency Communications Center says it had one call from a person unable to reach their mailbox, but fortunately, it wasn't an emergency.

Neighbors were outside in that residential area Tuesday, shoveling a path to the mailboxes.

The fire department will clear access to mailboxes and retrieve medications, but only if it is an emergency situation.

This is what us letter carriers have been trying to tell everybody. If we can't get to the mailboxes, we can't deliver your mail!!!
