The record snow fall may hurt the budgets of city snow removal, or frustrate a homeowner who spends hours digging out their driveway. But, its a welcome site for Massanutten Ski Resort.
The resort would open if there wasn't any snow, they would just make their own. Even with the large amount of snow we've received, the resort has already converted 70 million gallons of water into snow.
Massanutten Ski Resort has saved thousands each day they haven't had to create their own snow.
"It's probably a two to three thousand dollar a day just for electricity and labor to make snow. That's not an inexpensive situation, so when we can go 30 days with using very little electricity that really helps out the bottom line," said Steven Showalter, resort spokesperson.
And on top of the savings, Showalter says the heavy snow fall is natures best advertiser. He says the resort may break records in attendance this year.
