The body of a Churchville man has been found in Bedford County.

Forty-two-year-old Sean Peter Placko was last seen around Valentine's day. A friend reported him missing to the sheriff's office about a week later.

Placko's body was found Sunday morning by a man fishing on the James River in Bedford County.

The Bedford County Sheriff's office contacted the Augusta County Sheriff's office, and the two departments have been working together on the case.

"Ever since Monday their investigators have been here with my guys, basically interviewing family members, friends, who last saw him, so on and so forth, trying to figure out how he got where he was," said Augusta County Sheriff Randall Fisher.

The Bedford County Sheriff Department are asking anyone who may have seen Placko driving his black-and-white moped toward Bedford County to contact them at (540) 586-7827.
