The Staunton City Council made some changes to its layoff policy Thursday night.
The council added definitions to the policy about what constitutes full-time and part-time employees.
In addition, the council outlined how the city will decide which workers layoffs will affect.
During the session, the council reaffirmed that seniority will not factor into its layoff decisions.
It also brought the policy into line with a federal law regarding layoffs for deployed military service members.
