The Village Garden Center in Fishersville is the next business officials say has been targeted in a string of burglaries in Augusta County, Staunton and Waynesboro over the weekend.

Sometime Saturday evening into Sunday morning, burglars broke into the Village Garden Center, causing behind damage to both buildings. However, nothing of value was taken.

The Augusta County Sheriff's Office says all three burglaries that happened in its jurisdiction over the weekend have involved suspects trying to break into a safe or take money.

Capt. Glen Hanger says, "We never rule out the possibility that break-ins are related, either the number of break-ins within our own jurisdiction over a given period of time or for that matter break-ins that happen in our jurisdiction as well as others."

Burglars broke in through the back door of the retail center at the Village Garden Center, but once inside, they were unable to break into a safe.

Waynesboro is also reporting several break-ins at businesses, as well as vehicle larcenies from over the weekend.

Police there say there are no leads at this time.
