The next school year is months away but kindergarten registration is already underway in the Valley.
Several elementary schools participated Monday.
Parents are encouraged to sign up any child that will be five years of age, on or before September 30.
Area schools say sign-ups were smaller than years past, but they expect registration to pick up throughout the week.
Those who intend to register their child are asked to sign up early so each school will know how many teachers are needed for the upcoming school year.
"It's kind of hard because we let our parents know who their teachers are going to be and if we have to add a class at the last minute, then parents don't like that because their child is being moved out and into a new class that they weren't expecting," says Donna Robinson, Principal of Lacey Spring Elementary.
Officials suggest contacting your local school system to find out what documents are required for registration.
