I like Bobby's comment and perspective. Although I agree that EVERYONE SHOULD abide by the law, I wonder how many of the "locals" do everything in life ethically and properly? First, how many of the "locals" are receiving unemployment (when they are capable but not willing to work?) How many of the "locals" go to school, or ate least read enough to be knowlegeable on the REAL issues, so they can provide sound opinions? REALLY ! How many of you know of other americans (the correct term is: "North American" by the way, who have chosen these third world countries to retire and live in peace ! away from all these stupid hate?
I want all these people who support and make excuses for illegal aliens to show me how bringing millions of third worlders into this country WON'T make this country more like the third world. My U.S. Constitution guarantees us protection against invasion. Article IV, Section 4 states: "The United States shall guarantee every state in this Union a Republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion." America is in the midst of the largest invasion in the history of the world. Do the math. State and local governments have a responsibility that supersedes passing public safety off to the Federal government. The North Carolina Legislature just passed S-229, which is a great step in the right direction. I would suggest the Board of Supervisors visit http://operationbodycount.com and http://operationfireandice.com . The first is the problem. The second is a solution. Enforcement at the local level via the ICE 287(g) Delegation of Immigration Authority Program will save lives and reduce the threat from criminal illegal aliens. As Project Director for these two FIRE Coalition projects I can assure you the threat is real, and so is the solution.
Oh, come on folks. The wealthy need the illegals. From the last scene of Gone With the Wind(slightly modified). "M-eye oh m-eye, who will do the dishes, won't our lawwwns be destroyed? We are just goin to suffa, and suffa. But no matta, the good people of this country shall rise once more and We swair to neva be hungray again." The point? In slave times it was also argued that everything would collapse without free (cheap) labor. Whatever.
First, I would like to say my step father is Mexican. He is legal, pays taxes, and his and my mothers insurance, works everyday but he has family that has come to VA using fake id's and social security cards and this is what he said if they can't work, pay taxes, pay their own insurance and obey the laws here - they need to go back to Mexico. He raised 3 kids that weren't even his own and never once had to receive any type of service. So I do believe that if they are here to make a better life for themselves they should not be allowed to receive assistance. And there needs to be someway easier and faster to catch fake id's and social security numbers and deport them. Don't tie up the court and waste the American people's taxes dollars.

That is only one case. Do not be judgmental and assume that everyone does that. I am sure your sister knew about his family back in his country, before she got pregnant. And to Elly, NOT ALL the citizens have spoken!
Everyone used to be immigrants at one time, but there comes a time when enough is enough. There are too many illegal immigrants here already and before too long, the people that were here are going to have to go to another country to have a little space of their own. Immigrants are buying all of the real estate and the price of land is going up because they are buying all of the property. Why is it that they want to come to America? Is it because we have freedom? Well maybe, the other countries should do something about it then send them all over here to make their families. It has really affected me because I work for a person who just got their U.S. citizenship and they think that they do not have to pay any money because they didn't get paid that much over there, so why pay to go over here?. It is only a front desk job, but all of the foreigners are buying the hotels and motels in Page County. That's just what I think.
Illegal immigrants may be human first, but they also know a lot about abusing our laws. My sister dates an illegal who uses a fake ID he purchased for $1000.00 four years ago in New Jersey. He even files a tax return each year with this social security number (how can this work?). His brother also lives here and does the same thing. Last year, brother even claimed his children that lived out of this country. They move around the area to different apartments or motels running up bill's that they don't pay. A year ago, my sister had a child by this man (he has 4 back home), since she is considered low income she has all the assistance she needs from tax payer supported help while he sends his money back home to his mother and children. The problems only increase daily, so maybe it's time communities step up and take action.
Illegal immigrants are human first. Denying medical care, education and birth certificates verges on human abuse. Do we really want to be THAT country?
The towns, cities and countys need to speak up from themselves since the Federal Government won't protect us. The citizens have spoken!
