Four suspects are on the loose after two cars fled the Charlottesville area. Both cars are believed to have guns inside.
Early Saturday morning, Charlottesville Police responded to a shots fired call on the 1400 block of Vine Street. After they arrived, the call led to two police pursuits.
People on the scene pointed out to police a gold Nissan X-Terra from where they believed the shots originated. Witnesses said the people in the SUV had a gun. The people in that vehicle fled the scene when police arrived, beginning the pursuit.
Additional police arriving at the scene were tipped off to a white Ford. Police witnessed a pistol next to one of the passengers of that vehicle.
When officers drew their guns, the driver sped toward a crowd of people, causing an officer to jump out of the way. The driver then jerked the vehicle toward the police car, clipping one of the doors.
The pursuit of the X-Terra ended in Louisa County when the fleeing driver crashed the SUV into a ravine and then led police on a one-mile chase on foot.
All four suspects are still at large. Police were unable to pursue the white Ford. The vehicle has a license plate that starts with Y.
