Several hundred people gathered at the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library Sunday to celebrate the grand opening of the museum's new exhibit.
To kick off the public opening of "World War One: Doughboy Experience," the museum had re-enactors singing WWI songs and talking with those attending.
The museum also had a canteen serving cookies, drinks and doughnuts to represent the time period.
The museum's President and CEO Don Wilson says it's especially important this weekend, since U.S. President Woodrow Wilson was a big supporter of the holiday.
"He focused on that a lot himself, and remembering from the Civil War, just past the Civil War on, to honor our dead and the memory of those who have gone before us," says Don.
He says this war is also important to focus on now, because of the approaching centennial of World War I in 2014.
