U.S. Sen. Mark Warner released the following statement responding to Wednesday night's Immigration Reform March in Harrisonburg.
"Sen. Warner would prefer to address immigration reform in a comprehensive way and he wants to review the specific language of the DREAM Act once it comes up for a vote. But he supports the ultimate goal of expanding access to education and establishing a responsible path for the children of undocumented immigrants to get legal.
"In several ways, the DREAM Act is similar to then-Gov. Warner's efforts in 2003 to provide some consistency on tuition policies at Virginia's colleges and universities for those students who were brought to this country illegally as children, graduated from a Virginia high school, paid taxes, learned English and could demonstrate an effort to legalize their status."
