Two men wanted for a deadly stabbing in Waynesboro have been captured in Florida.
The Waynesboro Police Department says David Luna Sanchez and Abeil Javier Vazquez were arrested in Putnam County, Florida.
Sanchez was a passenger in a primer black Ford Taurus that got pulled over for speeding and displaying improper tags July 4. The driver was also arrested for false identification.
The vehicle was identified by it's VIN, which Waynesboro Police had registered as a felony murder vehicle. Sanchez was then apprehended without incident.
Waynesboro officers went to Florida Monday and an investigation led to Vazquez's capture at a relative's house.
"We believed that there was a good probability that they were still together, or at least in proximity to each other," Said Sgt Kelly Walker from the Waynesboro Police Department. "So we felt that it was important for us to get some of our folks on the ground down there, armed with some of the knowledge we held, in order to assist the Florida authorities."
Both suspects are awaiting extradition back to Virginia.
They are wanted for the June 27 death of Eduardo Javier Herrera-Bentancourt.
