Moats Scheduled to be Sentenced for Shooting Dog

A judge has ordered a presentence for a Staunton man accused of shooting and killing a dog.

Forty-nine-year-old Donald Moats says he shot the animal in September because it was chasing his livestock.

He was charged with torture of an animal causing death.

Moats is scheduled to be sentenced October 28.
