A pair of organizations in the Valley are getting some money to help prevent gangs.
Mary Baldwin College will get $12,125 to assess the needs for gang prevention programs in Staunton, Augusta County and Waynesboro.
The SAW Coalition has worked to gather information on teen violence, gangs and drug abuse. The organization's leaders say this grant money will aid in their efforts and allow them to save their resources down the line.
Rockingham Memorial Hospital is getting $24,925 to continue holding a class for the parents of young children that teaches how to stop disruptive behaviors in kids.
The money comes through the U.S. Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act.
