Staunton Police say a couple has walked away with items after distracting the store workers at a Martin's grocery store two times this month. On July 7, police say the man shattered a bottle of tea on the ground, and while workers cleaned it up, the woman left with a cart full of groceries. Police believe the same couple struck again earlier this week at Martin's.
Deputies in Rockingham County say someone stole $100 from a patient at Rockingham Memorial Hospital Monday. Deputies say the patient was behind a curtain, and her purse was left on a wheelchair.
Augusta County deputies report that someone stole a flat-screen TV from the Briarwood Apartments near Fishersville Sunday. They say the victim left her door unlocked.
In Harrisonburg, police are reporting some vandalism at Spotswood Elementary School. A school employee says a window was broken at the school over the weekend. The school also had a window shattered in May.
State Police are trying to track down the person who stole a Chevrolet Silverado truck and then used it for a hit-and-run over the weekend. The crash happened on Hensley Hollow Road in a wooded area near Elkton. The truck had been stolen from about a mile down the road.
If you have any information about these investigations, call your local police department or sheriff's office.
