Four people have been issued summonses for trespassing at the old Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
According to James Madison University spokesperson Don Egle, the four people found an open window and climbed into the building because of curiosity.
However, Egle says there was no malicious intent in what the college-aged people did.
He confirms that three of the people are enrolled for the fall semester at JMU, but would not release any other information on any of the suspects.
Because of the summonses, it is likely the four suspects will pay a fine for entering the building without permission.
RMH recently moved out of the building, which is now owned by the university.

Wow. I am a full-blown second amendment supporter with a twenty year military career behind me, but I cannot believe what you just posted. If someone was entering your occupied home I would agree you had the right to defend yourself with firearms. That is completed different from climbing into a vacant former hospital. If someone were idiotic enough to shoot a kid climbing into the old RMH building I would support removing their right to bear arms permanently. That's irresponsible use of firearms - and it would set the gun control crowd into another tizzy. The death penalty is not appropriate for stupidity and immaturity. 40 hours of community service at RMH is, and that was a good suggestion.
If people decided to enter my home through an open window, all well meaning, I wouldn't take time to ask their intentions before using a weapon. I believe the law would be on my side. Lucky for the hospital intruders that the scenario did not involve injury to them from someone that wanted to protect herself with the use of a weapon.
God only knows the damage a custodian would have incurred from hearing voices of college students WHERE VOICES SHAN'T HAVE BEEN! Honestly, yes, I think there was no harm done to the custodian at all. Community service is a proper punishment.
