Tree Falls In Womans Yard After High Winds

STUARTS DRAFT, Va. -- A woman in Stuarts Draft felt the full force of mother nature after a storm swept through her neighborhood this afternoon.

Many of the trees in her yard fell just short of missing her house.

Barbara Drumheller was in on her front porch when heavy rain started to come down earlier this afternoon.

She heard a loud bang while she was taking shelter in her house.

After the storm, she came outside to find many of the trees in her yard had been uprooted.

"The wind was blowing and the rain was so hard, you couldn't even see off our porch. It was just that thick and heavy," says Drumheller, "these trees have been here for years and the last year when the big storm came through, it didn't even phase them, but this is just unbelievable."

Weather experts believe the damage is mostly due to straight line wind damage.
