HARRISONBURG -- CarMax just opened a brand new store on South Main Street and it kicked off the opening in a big way.
CarMax celebrated the official opening of the 9th auto superstore in Virginia with its Harrisonburg location. As part of the kick off event, a "road rally" for charity got underway for the festivities.
CarMax's CEO started the events. He said he wants his company to be involved in the community.
"People are really passionate about cars. We want people to feel a connection with the company, so donating to some of the local charities and getting our employees involved is really what the main drive is,” said Tom Folliard, CarMax CEO.
The charity event featured several of WHSV's staff. Gloria Balding, Tom Dempsey and Bob Corso took part in the charity event.
Tom won for best parallel parking, which meant an extra $1000 would be donated to his charity of choice, 9/11 Help Now.
