HARRISONBURG -- Harrisonburg City Council members could decide Tuesday night whether to approve nearly $18,000 for tourism.
Harrisonburg Tourism requested that money as part of a grant from the state.
Tourism Director Brenda Black said Harrisonburg Tourism used some of the money already for its new campaign. That campaign is called 'It's Better in the 'burg.'
She said Harrisonburg Tourism created videos and advertising to bring more visitors to the area and she hopes the rest of the grant money is approved to continue the effort.
"I think it's important to go after the grants from the Virginia Tourism Corporation. The funding is there. If you're awarded, it gives you better visibility and allows you to reach a larger audience," said Black
Black said Harrisonburg Tourism is working on a couple other tourism initiatives to bring more people to the area.
