It's a prominent part of downtown Harrisonburg and on Saturday, more than 400 people will gather to clean up Blacks Run.

It's a part of the annual Blacks Run/Downtown Cleanup Day, but it's also a part of James Madison University's "Big Event."

Volunteers will work on sprucing up downtown, but their main focus will be to pick up trash and debris along Blacks Run.

Coordinators say this is a great way for Harrisonburg residents and JMU students to give back.

"It's great, you know, JMU while they're in school, they make up a big part of our community of Harrisonburg and having their support there just solidifies their presence in our community," says Wesley Runion, chairman for the Blacks Run/Downtown Cleanup.

If you'd like to volunteer, you can pre-register online or register at the event from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
