Women's rights, the Affordable Care Act and a Virginia Delegate blasting the President. That Delegate wants some changes to Obamacare and he plans on having Virginia take the lead.

Republican Delegate Bob Marshall has put a petition online. Friday night, he had more than 2,700 signatures. Marshall is against some parts of the affordable care act, but he may be alone, for now.

"Republican leadership is running from this like rats off a sinking ship." said Marshall.

He's behind the Religious Liberty and Rights of Conscience Petition. On it, he opposes the mandate in the Affordable Care Act that requires business owners and individuals as well as insurance companies pay for women's medications like the Plan B pill and birth control. He also blasts President Obama.

"Mr. Obama doesn't want people of faith to have influence in the body politic and I would tell him to his face that. He's got a very nice smile, very charming demeanor." said Marshall

"The fact that only Bob Marshall is coming out so strongly on this, I do think it's a possibility it might just fade out." said Julia Smyers, President of the JMU Democrats.

Smyers explained that she supports the Affordable Care Act. She says women have come too far for something like this.

"Bringing this up, like Bob Marshall, shows that he is stuck in a mindset from the past and it would take us back 30 or 40 years." said Smyers.

Delegate Marshall explained his plan at a forum Friday evening in the Valley. He knows he may not have much support.

"It is stupid for the Republicans not to take this on, but again, Republicans have done this in the past. I have low expectations among the leadership."

Marshall plans to present his bills to the General Assembly when the new session begins in January.
