STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) -- Staunton is losing what one man called a local landmark.
Demolition now underway on Countryside Assisted Living on Churchville Avenue, which has sat empty for years.
Crews recently began the demolition process.
Craig Post lives right next to Countryside and said he has received several visitors with ties to the home, who said they're going to miss it.
"Some of them would be people who had family who had lived here, some were actually nurses who took care of the folks," said Craig Post.
The owners of the property, a firm out of Roanoke, did not return our message asking what's next for the property.
